Mixology Mock Knit Earwarmer



Are you ready for the next installment for your Red Heart Mixology Colorway???  Just one more installment will be posted on button flowers to swap out on your set and wah-laa!  You'll have 1 earwarmer, 3 cowls, a set of boot cuffs, several swappable button tabs and multiple flowers all to mix and match in ONE set to give as a gift, OR take it all to a craft show!  We are talking 6 - 8 pieces for just the ONE colorway, 6 skein investment!  Remember for my set I chose the Retro colorway!  Earlier we posted the:

Mixology Mock Knit Earwarmer Pattern:


Materials:
The Mixology Line has sets of colors that are made to coordinate together.  By selecting a Swirl color, the coordinating print to that color, and the 4 solids out of the print, we can make anything and know that it will blend magically!  Mixology yarns are all skeined in weight Super Bulky 6.  The textures and prints will differ.  Each skein will have 60 - 70 yards.
7 yards Red Heart Mixology in Solid Color A
6 yards Red Heart Mixology in Swirl Color B
6 yards Red Heart Mixology in Solid Color C
6 yards Red Heart Mixology in Solid Color D
6 yards Red Heart Mixology in Print Color E 
7 yards Red Heart Mixology in Solid Color F
OR:
Option 1: make with 40 yards of one color

Notions:
Metal Yarn Needle; Scissors; Measuring Tape
Sizes:
One size fits all
Skill Level:
Beginner
Abbreviations:

CH = Chain; ST = Stitch; SL ST = Slip Stitch; SC = Single Crochet
Gauge:
Q Hook/15.75MM - 4 sc x 8 rows = 4"
PLEASE check gauge, it is important to ensure proper fit.

Notes:

1) Do not count CH 1 as a ST.

2) Work 1st ST in same ST as CH 1.

3) Always work your Row 1 into the BACK RIDGE of your starting chain.

4) The back ridge is the hump located on the back of the single crochet
Six Color:  Using Q hook
(please scroll down to the next section for One color instructions)
With Color A, CH 24 (Starting chain should be about 22" long), it should fit easily around the head with out too much pull, but not loose at all.  To adjust for smaller heads, simply chain less.
Round 1: Join to back ridge of first CH to form a circle, be careful not to twist the chain.  Here is a link for a great technique to keep from twisting your chain: http://www.thelavenderchair.com/crochet-tutorial-how-to-join-a-long-series-of-chains/  CH 1, SC around in the back ridge of the starting chain, , join to back ridge of 1st SC with a SL ST using the starting loop of Color B  <24 ST>
Round 2: CH 1, SC around in the back ridge of Round 1.  (Note: The back ridge is the hump located on the back of the single crochet, this is sometimes called a camel stitch), join to back ridge of 1st SC with a SL ST using the starting loop of Color C  <24 ST>
Round 3: CH 1, SC around in the back ridge of Round 2, join to back ridge of 1st SC with a SL ST using the starting loop of Color D  <24 ST>
Round 4: CH 1, SC around in the back ridge of Round 3, join to back ridge of 1st SC with a SL ST using the starting loop of Color E  <24 ST>
Round 5: CH 1, SC around in the back ridge of Round 4, join to back ridge of 1st SC with a SL ST using the starting loop of Color F  <24> ST>
Round 6: CH 1, SC around in the back ridge of Round 5, join to back ridge of 1st SC with a SL ST  <24 ST>
Round 7: CH 1, SL ST around in the back ridge of Round 6.  Finish Off. Join to 1st SL ST using invisible join:


One Color: Using Q hook

Round 5: CH 1, SC around in the back ridge of Round 4, join to back ridge of 1st SC with a SL ST  <24 ST>
Round 6: CH 1, SC around in the back ridge of Round 5, join to back ridge of 1st SC with a SL ST  <24 ST>
Round 7: CH 1, SL ST around in the back ridge of Round 6.  Finish Off. Join to 1st SL ST using invisible join:

If desired grab an extra yard in any solid color (the solid skeins have a few               
extra yards in them! and make a tab, OR swap with a tab from another cowl in the series.              
 Mix 'em up and match 'em up is the whole point of this awesome line!             

Optional Button Tab - With one strand Mixology and N/10MM hook
(OR you can reuse the same tab for all the items in this line!)

Row 1: CH 13, SC in back ridge of 2nd CH from hook and in each back ridge across.  (Note: We are working into the back ridge in order to give ourselves a clean edge to work into later.) <12 ST>
Row 2: CH 1, turn, SC 12 <12 ST>
Begin edging:
CH 1, turn corner and SC 3 in between rows, turn corner, SC across, turn corner, SC 3 in-between rows, turn corner, SC across, Finish Off.  Join to 1st SC using invisible join:
