Cordial Candy Cap - A yarn review and free pattern

Cordial Candy Cadet Cap - Yarn review + a free pattern

I received some yummy Red Heart Cordial Yarn a few months ago.  This is a new line Red Heart has created for easy macrame projects, so being the hooker that I am, I wondered what I could hook up with it that would be cool.  I came up with a fun breathable cap, that converts easily into 4 different options.  A cadet cap, A cadet cap with Ponytail hole, a Pill box style hat, and a pill box style with a ponytail opening.  The pill box version makes me think of the cigarette/candy girls in the 1920's, ergo the "Cordial Candy Cap".  Please find the Toddler size Candy Cap instructions below the review.  You can find the full eBook with all 4 cap options and 6 sizes HERE. You can get the small adult size on the Cre8tion Crochet Blog on May 12th, 2015.

This is the second new line I have tried by red Heart, where I REALLY like the way the ends are skeined.  It is looped around the center pull end and VERY easy to find.  Another beauty of this yarn is there is absolutely NO separating of the strands.  It's one nice thick piece of cord that doesn't pull apart with the hook end while working.  I also love the way it holds shape.  I think baskets and beach bags could be fabulous in this yarn as well.  For this pattern it worked to keep the "box shaping" I wanted for the hat.  On the visor option it holds well, and shapes easily.  It also creates a breathable space in between the stitches because it is a stiffer yarn.  Though I admit, when I first picked it up I had no idea what you would CROCHET with macrame cord, but I believe this may be my new FAVORITE summer project!
Here are some thoughts from a few of my testers that got to try out the Red Heart Cordial:

"I love the color choices and even though it was a little harder on my hands, the end product was well worth it.  There was no yarn splitting to worry about and I can easily shape my finished products.  I will be buying this again" - Aimee Nickolas of Lou and Marie
