Mixology Mock Knit Short Cowl

Red Heart's Mixology Yarn line is an amazing "bang for your buck", pre-coordinated colorway jumbo yarn.  I have so many favorite things about this line, but what I REALLY love is for just the purchase of 6 skeins in any one colorway you can create EVERY item in my Mixology Mock Knit Series!  Today I give you the "Mixology Mock Knit Short Cowl".  Continuing with my absolute favorite colorway "Retro", I created yet another item with the same skeins I used for the 3 we have already posted the:
Mixology Mock Knit Infinity Cowl
Mixology Mock Knit Boot Cuffs
Mixology Mock Knit Big Stitch Cowl

Each item in the ensemble is interchangeable, and at the end we will even learn how to make swappable button flowers for all the pieces!  We'll provide all patterns for free here on the blog, and offer the entire eBook in an easy to follow PDF format on Ravelry for a low price!  Check back often to see the latest in the series!

Read on in this post for the attached Mixology Mock Knit Short Cowl Pattern.  Pin it for later HERE, or add it to your Ravelry Favorites HERE.

Mixology Mock Knit Short Cowl Pattern:

Materials:
The Mixology Line has sets of colors that are made to coordinate together.  By selecting a Swirl color, the coordinating print to that color, and the 4 solids out of the print, we can make anything and know that it will blend magically!  Mixology yarns are all skeined in weight Super Bulky 6.  The textures and prints will differ.  Each skein will have 60 - 70 yards.

For a thicker more "stacked looking version of this cowl,
try it holding two strands at once with either pattern above:

If desired grab an extra yard in any solid color (the solid skeins have a few
extra yards in them! and make a tab, OR swap with a tab from another cowl in the series.
Mix 'em up and match 'em up is the whole point of this awesome line!

Optional Button Tab - With one strand Mixology and N/10MM hook
(OR you can reuse the same tab for all the items in this line!)

Row 1: CH 13, SC in back ridge of 2nd CH from hook and in each back ridge across.  (Note: We are working into the back ridge in order to give ourselves a clean edge to work into later.) <12 ST>
Row 2: CH 1, turn, SC 12 <12 ST>
Begin edging:
CH 1, turn corner and SC 3 in between rows, turn corner, SC across, turn corner, SC 3 in-between rows, turn corner, SC across, Finish Off.  Join to 1st SC using invisible join:
There is an excellent tutorial on the invisible join available by Dearest Debi at:

Attach one button to the end of the flap, turn the tab over and attach a button to the other end.  Now you have a reversible tab.  Loop your scarf however you desire and secure the button tab to hold it in place.  Mix and match for endless combinations!
